Petition for a spin off of the stelena alternate universe

georgiamoffts:

A perfect life.

‘Augustus Waters was a self-aggrandizing bastard. But we forgive him. We forgive him not because he had a heart as figuratively good as his literal one sucked, or because he knew more about how to hold a cigarette than any nonsmoker in history, or because he got eighteen years when he should’ve gotten more.’ ‘Seventeen,’ Gus corrected. ‘I’m assuming you’ve got some time, you interrupting bastard. ‘I’m telling you,’ Isaac continued, ‘Augustus Waters talked so much that he’d interrupt you at his own funeral. And he was pretentious: Sweet Jesus Christ, that kid never took a piss without pondering the abundant metaphorical resonances of human waste production. And he was vain: I do not believe I have ever met a more physically attractive person who was more acutely aware of his own physical attractiveness. ‘But I will say this: When the scientists of the future show up at my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on, I will tell the scientists to screw off, because I do not want to see a world without him.’ I was kind of crying by then.

I want to go to the early screening soooooooooooooooooo badly! Movies are usually out so late here and nothing fun like this ever happens here so If I got the chance to see TFiOS early. I’d literally die from happiness

Anonymous asked:
what do u think about people saying that Augustus is pretentious? bc I think people are just saying it for the sake of saying it. like when ppl say like "oh my god I don't like twilight" like they're trying to b cool by saying they don't like tfios

ethan-lawson-wate:

oh Augustus is 100% pretentious. but thats what makes him Gus! John Green didnt write Augustus to be the ideal man for all men to live up to. he wrote him as a real person with flaws. i mean its super pretentious to go around turning everything into a metaphor and dying in video games to save video game children who can really only be saved by you winning the game, and to tell your dying girlfriend that if you’re not dying FOR something then its pointless.

but that said, he’s one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. because even though hes a “self-aggrandizing bastard,” hes still Gus.

so when people say that Augustus is pretentious, they are 100% correctamundo. but just because a character has flaws it doesnt mean they love the book or the character any less. thats like saying that because you have flaws, you arent worth loving. which would be pretty ridiculous.

honestly if you read that book and thought Gus was totally perfect in every way, then you need to read it again. loving someone isnt about being oblivious to their flaws. its about realizing them and loving that person in spite of them.

because Gus’s pretentious need to die heroically was, in fact, his fatal flaw.

I’m not giving you shit until you give me some answers.
